On December 9, took place the first dissemination workshop of the Erasmus+ project "The Power of Words" called "Tolerance and Sport" organized by Be You Association. The workshop tackled the issue of tolerance in the context of the hate speech and the risks that this kind of discourse has on tolerance. The topic was addressed and discussed through various non-formal methods (energizers, socializing and self-knowledge games, sport activities and interactive discussions) that managed to attract young people, challenge them to debate and made them to share their life experience in situations where they have faced hate speech or have witnessed this phenomenon. Also at the workshop were present the young people who took part in the project "The Power of Words" having the opportunity to share their experience acquired during the mobility.
Through the activities, young people have come to the conclusion that sport is a powerful tool to fight in against this phenomenon, because through its complexity becomes a place of multiculturalism and diversity that unites people regardless of ethnicity, race, religion, age or social position. The development of the 3x3 „Meda Park Winter Cup” basketball tournament by Be You Association reinforced this conclusion because we had participants from several corners of the world who demonstrated that the barriers imposed by prejudices and stereotypes leading to hate speech may be overcome through sports.
We thank young people involved and we look forward to the next dissemination events that will take place until May 2018.
